Parsons' "Satans Devices" is an interesting text- one which manages to combine (effectively) Protestant demonological opinion with social reformism, containing a large number of specific anecdotes regarding both the author and contemporaries interacting with heretics, demoniacs, and disbelievers.

Satan is here regarded primarily as a tempter to vanity, vice, and disbelief- a rather Protestant opinion (especially in the mid 19th century.) All the problems of sloth, greed, and lust, are explored. The socially reformist ideology which forms a backdrop to this religious ideology during the early industrial period is of historical import.

This book is quite interesting, even though I disagree (obviously) with much of the religious content herein- several sections are dedicated to the topic of the Devil (from a protestant perspective) and demons, and the bit about mortality and Hellfire is, of course, interesting as well.

The author, Joseph Berg, was a preacher, so some of the statements he makes are emotionally charged and come with admonitions to the reader, but his analysis of the character of the Devil and other topics from the position of interpreting dogma is quite worth a read.

Diabology is a rather extensive work of demonology, although that is not the only subject. Indeed, it concerns itself with everything dark within the Christian spiritual framework and, naturally, thus the contrasting opposites of those same things and ideas; for the demon there is an angel, for Satan a God, and so forth. Altogether the work is quite dense as well, and it is much more an academic guide than a casual work. It is most interesting, perhaps, for its treatment of the very nature of good and evil based on the Bible, and elaborates at quite a lot of length on how this informs the Christian view of demons, including from a linguistic point of view.

It should be noted that some footnotes were omitted because they merely replicated quotations in the main work itself in German or Greek. I retained the Latin because it is interesting.

This is a rather nice work that primarily relates to demons and demonology, from the particular perspective of the fire and brimstone Methodist path that, in the 19th century, was at war with spiritualism. In the foreword, I had to make it clear to the reader that as an occultist I reject some of the anti-spiritualist materials here, although the first sections primarily deal with fraud mediums and is accurate.

According to this work, many mediums and self professed clairvoyants are indeed contacting spirits- but those spirits are evil demons from Hell instead of the souls of the dead or elemental forces. The religious arguments made here simultaneously make it clear that some spiritualists are not evil but rather misled, even if they are still bound for Hell.

This work is an excellent look at some of the christian conceptions of demonology from its era, in the roaring twenties. Based on field work in China and India, mostly by the author but referencing other missionaries as well, it purports to prove that demons exist, that evil is the agency of Satan, and that mesmerism and psychology play a role in possession.

It contains several hundred of these anecdotes and speaks of strange idolatrous practices in typical early 20th century form, while listing polytheism and similar things as spiritually hazardous. Oddly, while proposing government moralism, it decries literal suppression of such beliefs in favor of mere coercion and education. It also attacks spiritualism.

This work comes courtesy of the spiritualist movement of the mid and late 19th century. It is at once an academic work, a work of general demonology and Satan-lore, and a social tract aimed at the fire and brimstone preaching of its era. The elaborate synthesis of its sources and its authors' opinions make it an important work within the historical cycle of late pre-modern Christian philosophy.

For those interested in the occult, the practice of magick, and demonology in a stricter sense, this work is best seen as a refutation of some of the symbolism and meaning used by those involved in the same; if the basis is unsound the practice is unsound, and a great many practitioners continue in the delusion that brimstone-and-smoke filled hallways populated by leathery little creatures with Pluto-esque pitchforks are very much real, and that Satan is a historical notion as opposed to one adapted from paganism. I strongly suggest this work as well for anyone desiring to rid themselves of the fear or Hellfire, since it is meticulously debased here and more or less totally defeated.

Short Update Re: Ebooks

It's time for a short announcement for several important pieces of information for my readers here.

1. I have transferred the files and information for the last 20ish works I have released to kdp. Soon they will be available on kindle as ebooks. I tend to drag my heels for months at a time on such things (because I myself do not like ebooks and tablets, I want physical copies of literary works) and then do them in spurts like this. This includes works like "The Piasa", "The Roman Index of Forbidden Books", and "Is the Devil a Myth?" among others.

2. Soon I will add links for both paperback and ebook copies to the category lists. For a few titles there will be no ebook because kindle's platform has slightly different terms of service from Createspace for paperback works.

3. I have obtained a dozen new works to work on; some titles on alchemy, a few psychic works, and some mesmerism and other pseudoscience.

4. The tenth category will soon be added; "Folklore, Mythology, and Cryptozoology." A new "Mysticism and Spirituality" category will absorb some works from other categories and replace the folk magic category.

This work is a combination of demonology and devil lore with then-modern political and social discourse. Dwelling on the titles of, powers of, and form of the Devil, Wimberley's work also touches on temperance, the evils of illusionists and mesmerists, and the spiritualist movement.

It isn't quite as dense and difficult to comprehend as some similar works of the era on this and other titles; a refreshing fact, since some manuscripts on demons delve into minutiae or linger on quasi-medical topics associated with possession. It should be noted that Wimberley was surely a rather zealous protestant and so the work reflects this fact.

General Update Time!

Despite not posting an update in a while be it known that I have been hard at work; I am very pleased to first announce that the process of re-submitting all the files for ebook releases is now done- all of the titles available as digital downloads on Amazon (90% of them roughly) should be in proper format. If you do find any stragglers left behind and still messed up please leave a comment on this blog or message me elsewhere. The entire process took more than a week.

In other news, "How to Speak with the Dead" is finished and uploaded and should come online later today- I have also begun editing several other works; "John Williams' Last Legacy" (a slightly notorious short herbal and medicinal tract) and Rydberg's "Magic of the Middle Ages" which is a somewhat longer text, and quite dense- that one is sure to go into the academic heading.

I am crafting as well a political work of sorts, one of my own authorship- I am not sure yet how long it will be when completed, but it's sure to fit in with the hyper-political climate of the current era.

This fine work is the culmination of a great deal of study by John Taylor in the middle of the 19th century. As with many works from the period, it both lambastes prior christian populations for their superstition while exonerating them partly on the basis that their interpretation of christian dogma was, first, misled by the authorities of their age and, second, that this was partly the fault of primordial pagan influence and the working of sorcery in late antiquity.

Its primary content is related to the burning times, both with regards to conceptions of Satan and of witches and witchcraft in general, but it also manages to provide a few older examples including the rites of the snake cults of the near east and the topic of the infamous shape-shifting Lamia. It blames King James and his "Daemonologie" and the Malleus Maleficarum for many tens of thousands of deaths.

The Process Begins on Improving the KDP Titles

This morning I finished "Magic and Witchcraft" and it is processing, but I figured I'd do a bit more and moved all five herbal titles to KDP (for ebook sales)- as always I don't really care much about ebooks because I prefer physical copies, but people keep asking me for digital versions of my releases so I figure I might as well have a full ebook catalog too.

Which brings me to the happy news of the day; I am fully aware that a few of the titles I have aren't properly processed there for sale as ebooks; when I released the first slew of digital releases I relied on Createspace to properly convert existing files and, of course, was let down; CS is great for paperbacks but has severe issues when it comes to processing uploaded files for release as ebooks; several titles were nothing more than the cover and one page of text, or four pages of badly formatted and massively cropped illustrations. I have to go back through and manually re-upload pdfs of each title to make sure they're all in proper working order since CS can't apparently handle it on their end; that means weeks more effort. I manually submitted the files for the five herbals so at least that category will be in proper format with no issues (I hope.) I'll get to work tomorrow with the four folk works, then after that spend a week or so on the rest and do as much as I can while also releasing the next herbal title.

This booklet details the opinions of the Pillar of Fire order founded by Alma White at the dawn of the 20th century, regarding the then-growing Pentecostal movement and its belief in baptism by tongues. It additionally delves fairly deep into eugenics-era demonology and the nature of both demons and the Devil, and their constant quest to destroy the christian body in what White and others believed to be a period fairly close to the end times. It speaks about the vaguely eugenics-tinged christianity of its era and proposes that those who speak in tongues regularly are possessed not by the Holy Spirit but rather by the legions of Hell.

This manuscript is a fine example of a mid 19th century spiritual historic work. Seeking to explain the origin and general history of Satan up through that point in history, it speaks of Ahriman, the disembodied and physical Satans of time, the Jewish and Christian origins of the same general principles, and the latter day, then-modern rationalist explanation of the devil as essentially a bogeyman.

Of course, more than a century has elapsed since then, and this rationalized imp subsequently became a symbol of capitalism, the leader of communism, the master of the world elite, a banker, and a humorous red skinned figure loosely twain with, of all things, Santa Claus.

All About Devils: Now Available!

This strange work is a spiritualist writing from the late 1800s. Moses Hull was once a fairly well regarded Adventist minister but lost his faith, embraced the occult, and proceeded to write this little booklet, which is almost a tract of demonolatry for its era.

Short in length but deep in detail, it excoriates and lambastes the church, applauds Satan as a herald of wisdom (and at times as better in a strategic sense than the christian deity) and (correctly) predicts that the christian cult would take credit for the philosophical advances of spiritualism. Indeed, this latter prediction is so accurate that we might regard Hull as a sort of spiritualist prophet- the church, decades later, would indeed embrace the struggles of the suffragettes, the return of neopagan iconography, the study of the arcane, and other things which were embraced by the Victorian occult movement while the christian body largely regarded them as heretical. To Hull, predicting this, it would roughly equate to the christian church once chastising proto-scientists in their claim that the world was round and went around the sun in orbit.

Work Begins on Sickness In Hell

It is finally that auspicious time at which a new work by yours truly joins the (rapidly growing) ranks of edited releases available here on this blog. "Sickness in Hell" is the name and splatterpunk is the game; think, "Morbid Stories" as one long work instead of multiple short stories.

Many years ago- almost a decade now- the rudiments of this novel began after I had a dream about eating a dehydrated fetus out of a wooden box full of dried apricots in a dilapidated, post-apocalyptic grocery store. After eating this strange sacrament (which I imagine must have been real in some other plane of existence) I became privy to looking beyond the psychological veil into a sort of weird hellish void full of depravity, death, terror, and perversion- and I enjoyed it.

The corpus of the writing is basically complete already. The first step is merely to delineate the chapters and write notes outlining the basic content, after which the story writes itself- when writing fiction, as opposed to nonfiction, I zone out and it becomes almost a form of automatic writing; I say almost, because I don't believe in actual channeling.

It's a novel-length work so it will take a bit of time, even if the twenty five original sections (technically chapters) are actually, technically, "done". Unfortunately, the resulting story jumped around and so I can only say that it is complete in a very technical sense.

The basic premise revolves around fungus capable of mutating DNA, factory farm contamination, Satan, and black magic. The entire work is the purest form of sickness and vile atrocity ever penned by a human being, and I take pride in the fact that a few people I showed some of the original sections got sick and began gagging.

At long (long) last it is finally here- the ultimate perverted, degenerating collection of stories which will rot your soul into a pile of dust and reduce you to nothing more than a grinning lunatic. Well beyond the typical fare of (already very good) splatterpunk, Morbid Stories delves far more fully into the Satanic and insane. If you enjoy the extreme of extreme horror, or anything related to it, this is the literature for you.

I'd be lying if I claimed I didn't enjoy writing these entries, and wasn't laughing like a maniac quite frequently when I did so.

In keeping with the spirit of splatterpunk, I illustrated the chapter headings but left the illustrations in rough form. You will never look at Satan (or Hell) the same way again once you have read this book.

Occult Philosophy For the Modern Age

At last, after two years of writing, editing, and illustrating- my guide to occult philosophy is finally available on Amazon.

I started this work in 2013- for a year it was mostly written but hadn't been edited because I was so busy with other projects, namely "Ashes" and "Morbid Stories." I took the liberty of applying my own digitized artwork to it for two reasons; first, I can work a lot faster than anyone I'd fund to illustrate, and secondly I can absolutely control the content to my hearts' content- sometimes complete symmetry is desirable, but for this type of work I prefer material that more closely resembles digitized sketches that have nonetheless been altered to be more appealing.

The work stands at 198 pages- much of its content is metaphysical, although it applies one general overarching concept to various things within the occult and the paranormal; the basic concept around which most other passages revolve is the concept of oscillation and of evolution as applied to non biological principles; this allows the redefinition of virtually every other occult and mystic concept. In days of old I never realized this, but once it became apparent that this could be applied to occult topics and even every secular topic it became monumentally important to define it- for it is the eternal kampf in its pure form; not the watered down, bastardized version used by racial nationalists but rather the evolutionary component applied to every field.

It is through this struggle, and through many cycles, and through random convolution, that I believe all other occult principles and phenomena operate and manifest; this work, then, describes it in minute detail.

Thus I offer this as my own handbook to guide the occultists of the world in what is, as of now, a sort of guide to my own system and path.
