This is a very dense little work which is almost entirely comprised of notes and segments on African and Asian tribal groups and their use of physical objects in a ritual context, often as little charms or "fetishes" as they were termed then. Importantly, the modern (and sexual) use of this term does not here apply.

Some of the stories are outright humorous; most of them are fairly academic- it is nice to note that this work managed to exclude some of the supremacism often found in contemporary works and seeks to simply list the usages involved; these range from good luck charms, to totemic sorts of rites, to those involving war, success, and protection from disease.

This work is a compilation of dialogue (mainly) between medium and spirit, designed to describe the afterlife, what it's like to be "dead", and similar subtopics of mortality. Written from a determined spiritualist perspective, the work reflects the opinions of the author that his own psychic investigations and seances have led to proof of a continued existence after the grave swallows the corpse. Some of the claims made here are quite bizarre, some overlap with Theosophy, and altogether it's a quite interesting work.

This work comes strictly from the rationalist camp of its era. Seeking primarily to discredit phrenology, dowsing, seances, and spiritualistic beliefs in general, Clodd managed to perform two tasks; first, to give a good cautionary warning to occultists, and second to categorize some interesting phenomena (including the legendary appearance of angels on WWI battlefields, aiding British troops!) for the purposes of discrediting the same.

Like with several other editions I have released lately I provide this primarily to warn off practitioners of spiritual systems from credulity- we must remember that dowsing, phrenology, etc were widely popular and accepted in their time and even backed by supposedly objective science.

This is a rather nice work that primarily relates to demons and demonology, from the particular perspective of the fire and brimstone Methodist path that, in the 19th century, was at war with spiritualism. In the foreword, I had to make it clear to the reader that as an occultist I reject some of the anti-spiritualist materials here, although the first sections primarily deal with fraud mediums and is accurate.

According to this work, many mediums and self professed clairvoyants are indeed contacting spirits- but those spirits are evil demons from Hell instead of the souls of the dead or elemental forces. The religious arguments made here simultaneously make it clear that some spiritualists are not evil but rather misled, even if they are still bound for Hell.

This book is a strange one even by my own standards; it should be duly noted that due to censorship (and the deplatforming raids which have become a hallmark of the last few years) I have redacted a section of the book begrudgingly. Andrew Jackson Davis, the author, wrote several works from the perspective of a clairvoyant. In this book he claims to have communicated with spirits and also to have seen the afterlife, which in his visions is rather varied, changeable, and wondrous, with rivers of light and many more wonders. For those intrigued by history it should be noted that this is one of the early works that would later form the backbone of eugenics-era philosophy without itself being eugenic in manner. Such philosophical writings would eventually give rise to the modern world.

This is an excellent work delivered in the form of multiple lectures rather than as a single stand-alone book. It is at once an early example of pro-spiritualist literature and a brutal attack on then-mainstream religious sentiment regarding seances, ghosts, and other similar topics. Refuting the concept of Heaven and Hell in favor of spiritualist explanations, this book is one of a number of texts from the era which would lay the groundwork for the 1910s and 1920s explosion of occult societies that would recede only to give birth to the new age in the hippie era of flower children and apocalyptic atomic paranoia. Highly recommended for both practitioners and history buffs.

This work is quite interesting and refers to various experiences and experiments performed by the author with regards to seances at the time for some years running. The main focal point is none other than the now infamous Anna Fay, was eventually outed as a fraud by Harry Houdini, among others- indeed not that many years after this work sought to use her as evidence of a spirit world.

Nonetheless it is of value- all the content connected just with the theoretical side of spirituality remains intact even to this day in a theoretical sense- although it is generally considered bunk because of its association with the same mediumship circles this work refers to. A fine bit of work exemplifying the spiritualism movement and of great interest for its description- accidentally- of very refined parlor magic.

This short work is interesting for two reasons, neither of which has strictly to do with the stated main topic; it is all about how to develop the skill of mediumship, but the occultist has perhaps more use for it in its admonitions regarding self awareness and focus, and the literary buff will find it more of interest because it's an exceptionally good example of the specific kind of mystic literature proliferating at the time, in the wake of the east-to-the-west expansion of spiritual consciousness.

This reasonably short work is a compilation of purported communications with spirits created by the notable Sophie de Meissner- whose own work stretched well beyond the spiritual and involved charitable work and many other literary forays.

Of significance here especially are several communications supposedly held with none other than the captain of the USS Titanic after its ill fated voyage, as well as numerous letters between the author and other figures, which regard the form and function of the afterlife and the importance, in their opinions, of the actual name of Jesus, among other things.

General Update: Spring!

I figured it was about time for another update; as spring marches along I'm already requisitioning materials for my garden, so those of you who enjoy that series will get some new footage soon- along with massive improvements.

On the literary side, I am now about 75% complete editing DeLaurences' odd work "The Mystic Hindu Test Book"- this work covers astral bodies, spirits, crystal gazing, seances, and more; it's quite good after the second chapter (up to that point it is self advertizement and run on sentences.) At around 130 or so pages, it will be an important work here.

After that, I figure on completing a couple other DeLaurence works; they're all of similar length and have various eugenic-era spiritual content revolving around eastern tradition, spirits, and the like. I also have two short herbals and need to contact my illustrator for those to be completed. As promised the Theurgia Goetia will also soon be edited. I figure I can complete seven new works by the end of May at current projections.

This work is the first of a number of quack medicine, herbal, and spiritualist works with pseudoscience that I intend to release this year; it's one of the strangest, suggesting overlap between the twelve signs of the zodiac and twelve inorganic materials that are used by cells (thus proving in the mind of the author, a spiritually significant connection.) Much like Dowers' explanation of "radium" and its importance spiritually, Carey likens the human being to a steam powered apparatus, with the pores as vents and other various miraculous similarities.

While thus hilarious at times, it also contains Careys' apparent post-revelational vision of utopia and a good deal of spiritual commentary on avoiding alcohol, overeating, sexual contact, and other corrupting forces in order to inevitably lead mankind to a higher plane of existence in which labor is automated and humans live a peace loving existence in visible company with angels.

This work is something I do not necessarily agree with in an occult sense but, for historical reasons and because of its (extremely) interesting take on the Salem Witch Trials, it is certainly worthy of inclusion in the ever-expanding library of releases here.

Written by Putnam in the middle of the 1800s, it is notable in that it makes the claim (though not directly) of a new spirit age having dawned on the world in which spirits have begun to communicate with mankind in a manner not unlike the telegraph- predating theosophical claims of a similar nature by many decades. The author himself claims to have established the veracity of mediums and spiritualism personally, and remarks at length upon the different stages or categories of mesmerism and its abilities.

This interesting little volume is roughly similar in some ways to the Book of Forbidden Knowledge (which became and has remained one of my top selling titles.) It is a mix of different lore, delivered from a skeptical-but-not-atheistic position on subjects ranging from the divining rod (dowsing), to omens and apparitions, and the Salem Witch Trials- this last is covered in some degree of depth indeed, about 50 pages of content giving the backdrop, opinions of the era, and some of the names and trials of note from the entire series of events there.

A short treatment on Satan and demonology gives way to this more historical content and it is subsequently capped off with a two page ramble about the need to refute fire and brimstone ideology and irrational superstition. The original edition came with about ten pages of ads (removed in my edition) for other works which ranged from mesmerism and palmistry to brief annotated historical guides.

All About Devils: Now Available!

This strange work is a spiritualist writing from the late 1800s. Moses Hull was once a fairly well regarded Adventist minister but lost his faith, embraced the occult, and proceeded to write this little booklet, which is almost a tract of demonolatry for its era.

Short in length but deep in detail, it excoriates and lambastes the church, applauds Satan as a herald of wisdom (and at times as better in a strategic sense than the christian deity) and (correctly) predicts that the christian cult would take credit for the philosophical advances of spiritualism. Indeed, this latter prediction is so accurate that we might regard Hull as a sort of spiritualist prophet- the church, decades later, would indeed embrace the struggles of the suffragettes, the return of neopagan iconography, the study of the arcane, and other things which were embraced by the Victorian occult movement while the christian body largely regarded them as heretical. To Hull, predicting this, it would roughly equate to the christian church once chastising proto-scientists in their claim that the world was round and went around the sun in orbit.

Psychedelic Spirituality; The Revelation Is Nigh!

The completion of"Psychedelic Spirituality" is now at most a couple of weeks away; but that's not all that's on my plate at the moment; thankfully the new laptop I'm using (which was crowdfunded by my youtube subscribers) is faster than before, and while formerly handling completed texts with large embedded images was a bit of a hassle- saving the files took a good thirty seconds towards the end and had to be done locally and on removable media- the new processing power I have at my disposal makes everything a literal breeze.

First, I must edit and complete art work for the book as well as complete the final section, which I added literally this morning and half completed when all other work was done; essentially a list of about forty of the most common psychotropic species, along with their scientific names, general habitat, and their noted effect upon the human brain and body. While this is my main work at hand for the immediate future I've already begun working on the introductory chapter of the long-awaited Sickness In Hell and a second Morbid Stories. I've got several other ideas for works to begin this year also, and hope to finalize at least two after Psychedelic Spirituality by December.

Additionally, I've decided to return to editing and releasing new versions of old, out-of-copyright occult works; I have only scratched the surface of popular grimoires from the Renaissance through the Victorian era, and those are selling like hot cakes because demand for black magic is at an all time high. With any such work, editing is the easy part, it's the forward and artwork which takes some time; because I insist upon doing at least topical research on the subject, and the art needs to be of at least decent quality; which is all I can achieve with my own means and programs.

This is one of three planned works I have in mind for the topic of psychedelia; there's already a possible fourth, though, that I may write; I'll say no more as I do not want anyone else to preempt me on the particular subject I have in mind.
