Satans Devices and the Believers Victory: Now Available!

CLICK TO PURCHASE

Parsons' "Satans Devices" is an interesting text- one which manages to combine (effectively) Protestant demonological opinion with social reformism, containing a large number of specific anecdotes regarding both the author and contemporaries interacting with heretics, demoniacs, and disbelievers.

Satan is here regarded primarily as a tempter to vanity, vice, and disbelief- a rather Protestant opinion (especially in the mid 19th century.) All the problems of sloth, greed, and lust, are explored. The socially reformist ideology which forms a backdrop to this religious ideology during the early industrial period is of historical import.

The work has been illustrated as well by the very good Rave Feather Illustrations.

Hellenism and Christianity: Now Available!

CLICK TO PURCHASE

"Hellenism and Christianity" is a spectacular work by Bevan on the topic of the change from pagan to Christian ways over the course of many centuries, beginning of course with Bacchylides and other ancient figures, and proceeding through the first contact and interchange between early Christians and their pagan counterparts. It is richly filled with secondary sources of material both ancient and then-modern; a fine work excellent for continued research into this fascinating historical topic.

Mysticism in Heathendom and Christendom: Now Available!

CLICK TO PURCHASE

Lehmann's work on mysticism is quite fascinating; it does not simply relegate itself to the normal timeline of high antiquity, early Christian movements, and latter day ones, but delves into Hindu, Persian, Chinese, and even animist spiritual rituals and systems. While it proposes a generally evolutionist timeline to the development of mystic thought, it is more apologetic than most contemporary works.

General Update Time: More Works Coming Soon!

It has been several months since I wrote anything about my literature; but that doesn't mean I haven't been busy!

Over the last few months I have obtained almost a hundred new literary works to edit- some short, some long, all occult or occult-adjacent. Four of these works are done with the illustrations ready to go. A fifth work is done pending completed illustrations. A sixth work is about half done. I decided to just list the forthcoming titles here. My plan is to complete four additional works by years' end and get all six of the current titles out before Halloween (which of course is important!)

-Ancient Mystic Oriental Masonry (Clymer)
-Hellenism and Christianity (Bevan)
-Hindu Magic (Carrington)
-Mysticism in English Literature (Spurgeon)
-Mysticism in Heathendom and Christianity (Lehmann)
-Satans Devices and the Believers Victory (Parsons)

I have a few other works in varying degrees of completion which are partly edited and, as I said, many more which will need to be formatted first. I anticipate releasing perhaps fifteen to twenty works in 2023 as well.

The Mysteries, Pagan and Christian: Now Available!

CLICK TO PURCHASE

Cheetham's "Mysteries Pagan and Christian" is one of the most insightful volumes on mystic tradition and the mystery schools which I have encountered. It contains a very large section of notes explaining some of the texts' content, and dwells mainly on the concordance between the ancient Greek and Roman mystery tradition (the Orphic, Eleusinian, Bacchic, and other mysteries) and their progress through the early Christian period, and absorption into various religious rites. It derives heavily from ancient sources.

Mysticism; its Nature and Value: Now Available!

CLICK TO PURCHASE

This fine work is a lengthy explanation of the concept of Christian mysticism, addressing "rea" incidents and concepts of mystic value (according to the authors' perspective!) as opposed to those which are more derived from rational thought or mental analysis. It speaks highly of Proclus while denouncing Dionysus the Aeropagite, among other things.

The Old Paths: Now Available!

CLICK TO PURCHASE

This interesting volume (which might be the final edited work of the year! Stay tuned!) is effectively a reform-minded (or primitivistic) Christian tract which seeks to use the opinions and writings of early Christian figures predominantly to evince the concept that there is no Hell, or at least no Hell prior to the Revelation-era final judgment, effectively arguing for universal salvation. It is fairly compelling and alludes to the words of Clement, Paul, and many others.

The Roots of Ritualism in Church and Masonry: Now Available!

CLICK TO PURCHASE

This little text is one of Helena Blavatsky's better writings- a short and largely linguistic work remarking upon some Christian and Masonic terminology and noting the overlap between them. It initially comes from an essay in "Lucifer" (a Theosophical magazine, not to be confused with the devil!) and was also included in a latter work compiling some essays by the author.

The Son of God, the Mystical Teachings of the Masters: Now Available!

CLICK TO PURCHASE

This "Temple of the Illuminati" book by Reuben Clymer essentially traces the story of Jesus and interprets it in a mystical manner, labeling Jesus an Essene (which is almost certainly true, if we assume the historicity of this figure) and ruminating on his antipathy towards the Sadducees and Pharisees, among other contemporary movements. It then expounds upon both Judeochristian and Eastern topics, and how practices therein can bring one into better spiritual alignment with the same mystical interpretation of Jesus.

Demonosophy Unmasked: Now Available!

CLICK TO PURCHASE

This work is a categorical refutation of Theosophy and its practices from the background of fire and brimstone early 20th century Christian rigor. At times, the specific arguments made are hilarious (that Theosophy causes demon possession via spiritualism- despite seances and the like being generally and repeatedly debunked in both the contemporary and latter sense.) Some of the other arguments make more sense, and it's important to provide a critical counter-balance since I have edited several dozen works by Theosophists themselves. It is half-jokingly dedicated to someone I debated recently, who hates Theosophy but is also a socialist/communist (they are fundamentally the same) even though works like this often attacked Theosophy as well, but also because it was in part derived at times from socialist rhetoric by the likes of Annie besant.

Apollonius of Tyana: Now Available!

CLICK TO PURCHASE

This short text by Reville is basically a condensed summation of the life and times of Apollonius, especially with an eye to the pagan revivalism associated with his teachings. Apollonius is often considered either a paganistic copy of Jesus or potentially the basis upon which the Jesus myth was crafted to begin with. A fairly large portion of this work deals with Roman intrigue and of course a majority of it is based on Philostratus' work on the subject.

Prayer and the Healing of Disease: Now Available!

This little manuscript was crafted against the backdrop of an era in which rationalism, spiritism, orthodox religion, and zealous fire-and-brimstone Christendom were all holding a decades-long pitched battle, replete with oratory, debates, protests and counter-protests. This specific little booklet expresses the view, in large part, that faith healing tends to be a charlatan endeavor, which robs "genuine" religion by using the title "Christian." A multitude of anecdotes and stories are told here, especially involving people who died because they refused "natural" medicine- using scripture to evince the opinion that this is neither necessary nor proper.

Realms of the Living Dead: Now Available!

This interesting volume is one of the foremost titles crafted by Frank Homer Curtiss during his life. Husband to the Blavatsky-adjacent founder of the Order of Christian Mystics, his views here are an amalgamation of Theosophical, Gnostic, Rosicrucian, and Hermetic materials- indeed, there is an entire section of poetry written purportedly by natural spirits (gnomes, sylphs, salamanders, and undines.) Allusions to Blavatsky and others are frequent. It goes well beyond its ostensible subject matter into social issues such as alcoholism (it considers alcohol to resonate at an astral frequency, causing danger to drinkers), the First World War (and how German aeronauts were essentially sinning with their development of aviation technology!) among other intriguing subtopics.

The Four Great Religions: Now Available!

This well made Theosophical work is, I think, my favorite by Besant thus far. It avoids some of the more strange material in that path associated with ethnic issues and focuses almost entirely on religious history- namely that associated with Hinduism, Zoroastrianism, Buddhism, and Christianity, proclaiming that those are akin to four epochs of spiritual development, with frequent allusions to their holy scriptures.

According to Besant there are similarities in these four spiritual systems that must be noted, in preparation for the arrival of a fifth age- the literal new age heralded by a new enlightened master.

The Stigmata: Now Available!

This fine little work is a compilation of tales of the Stigmata as reported over the course of centuries by the Catholic church. The phenomenon itself is the appearance of marks on the body commensurate with the wounds imparted on Jesus during crucifixion. Regardless of whether you believe in such a phenomenon, it's a very valuable bit of history pertinent to the Catholic church and some of the stories are quite supernatural (such as levitation and religiously significant marks on the heart upon dissection.)

The Hidden Treasures of the Ancient Qabalah: Now Available!

This is a nice little work but the title is slightly misleading; while it speaks about Kabbalah it is a Theosophical manuscript (a transcription of oratory) which ties the same in to alchemy, yoga, and certain Christian and Buddhist tenets of spirituality. It is well written, and about half of it actually comprises a sort of social tract which speaks about inter-sex relationships, ethics, and then-modern culture.

Abaddon and Manahaim: Now Available!

This book is quite interesting, even though I disagree (obviously) with much of the religious content herein- several sections are dedicated to the topic of the Devil (from a protestant perspective) and demons, and the bit about mortality and Hellfire is, of course, interesting as well.

The author, Joseph Berg, was a preacher, so some of the statements he makes are emotionally charged and come with admonitions to the reader, but his analysis of the character of the Devil and other topics from the position of interpreting dogma is quite worth a read.

A Treatise on Magic: Now Available!

This fairly short work is a nice example of early 19th century Christian rationalism. Penned by a Lutheran, it accepts the basic concept of Biblical spirituality while expressing deep skepticism of magic generally (of the superstitions of its era)- notably the work derives a lot of its content from the concept of the Biblical Witch of Endor. It speaks in some degree of detail of the Devil, and deviates from the fire and brimstone of both prior and latter Christendom.

The Theosophy of Christ: Now Available!

This short work represents a contemporary look at Theosophy from a perspective different from that of the Oriental tradition. While Theosophy at large brought East to West, this and similar works spoke more of Jesus and attempted to re-assert the supremacy of Christendom over spiritism and similar phenomena.

Largely, it encourages prayer for healing, claiming that the dispensation of healing miracles did not end in antiquity.

Miracles and Supernatural Religion: Now Available!

This short work is quite interesting; it is a fairly lengthy exposition on the topic of miracles within a Christian framework, especially with regards to the resurrection of the dead- not just of Lazarus (the most well known example) but of other figures in and out of a spiritual context. The suggestion here is made that rationalizing these events is at least partly necessary, basing that opinion on then-modern and very real accounts of people buried alive, catalepsy, and the like.
