This fine work is one of the most significant early works of the well-known Rudolf Steiner; one of the leaders of Theosophical thought before schisming from Annie Besants' faction and forming Anthroposophy. This text lists the steps of initiation in general and includes a fairly good autobiographical entry on Steiner himself, written by Edouard Schure. This inclusion is why I chose to edit from the second, rather than first, edition.

This short work by Clymer is a set of two essays. The first section deals with increasing health and longevity (even to the point of immortality) through proper breathing. The second, and perhaps more intriguing section details the Great Pyramid and its rumored usage for priestly initiation rituals, then exhorting Masons and other groups to emulate the basic idea as laid forth.

Manly P Hall is a fairly famous name in mysticism and was a prolific author, whose works were hashed around in various compilations and in stand-alone booklet form for a half century. This is his very first literary entry, penned when he was barely an adult, back during the roaring twenties.

It is essentially a broad work of philosophy and initiation and forms the backbone of his lifes' literary works- rendering everything to the occult, and to the overarching concept, we might say, of the great work itself. It is fully re-illustrated by our usual Rita Metzner, whose work can be seen here on her Instagram page. The symbols of Freemasonry and associated orders are, here, explained fairly fully, and it goes on to expound upon alchemy, among other topics. Highly recommended.

This is one of the foremost works of all Theosophy- from the well known Alice Bailey, an initiatory work which describes the various levels of spiritual refinement which are required on the path to Theosophical mastery. It should be noted that some of the obtuse terminology is explained at the end of the text in a decently sized glossary.

I highly recommend this work for those who intend to delve into the occult; one need not be a Theosophist themselves to understand that the spiritual path requires a trial by fire of sorts- withstanding temptation, renunciation of certain vices (voluntarily, in most paths) and more. This particular work intriguingly suggests that to attain the higher levels of this mystery tradition requires vegetarianism and, for some, essentially veganism.
