This fairly short work is another of the various bizarre releases of its era, which has little back story and content which fluctuates wildly from subgenre to subgenre. Supposedly based off an older German version (said here to be popular, but which may indeed not exist at all), it first lays out some philosophical principles tied with the use of willpower and psychic force, then launches off on a series of situational tales regarding the use of iron will and such- indeed, the author (or the avatar the author depicts) claims to have become miserable by having too much force of will, leading to a life utilizing it for money and fame, to the neglect of spirituality and wisdom, warning the reader to be wary of the use of true will, which is in part prefaced by a simple declarative refusal to surrender or back down.

This is a fairly short work that is nonetheless interesting for two types of content; first, its fusion of apparently religious Christian material with Hinduism (often an element of theosophy although I could not find any information on the author being involved with the same) and second, its allusions to telegraphy, atoms, magnetism, and the like, in regards to the occult. These topics were widely popular in magical and philosophical movements until the roaring twenties came crashing down and more technologies were developed.

It contains multiple how-to passages actually teaching some occult practices, of whatever style or order the author belonged to.

This is an excellent work delivered in the form of multiple lectures rather than as a single stand-alone book. It is at once an early example of pro-spiritualist literature and a brutal attack on then-mainstream religious sentiment regarding seances, ghosts, and other similar topics. Refuting the concept of Heaven and Hell in favor of spiritualist explanations, this book is one of a number of texts from the era which would lay the groundwork for the 1910s and 1920s explosion of occult societies that would recede only to give birth to the new age in the hippie era of flower children and apocalyptic atomic paranoia. Highly recommended for both practitioners and history buffs.

This is one of the stranger works of the early 20th century. Written by the famous DeLaurence, it seeks to teach the reader how to use crystal gazing to contact spirits and help people with various issues, and to impart the secret of telepathy. It also covers the use of the seance to contact spirits, among other tricks within the spirit realm (while considering these spirits to be very much hermetic in form; that is, the sylphs, undines, etc.)

While some of the practices here are related predominantly to DeLaurence advertizing his own goods and services, it is true that some of them remain in use, and are of occult interest to this day.

General Update Time!

I have completed the editing of "Lore of the Unicorn" and it will be available today and of course posted about here. This is just the first of several more folklore-and-cryptid style works I wish to release in a fairly short span of time. Those two herbals have not been forgotten; I think I'll bend to pressure and pay someone a flat fee and put their name on the works in exchange for not having to draw up the illustrations there personally; it means it might take a year or so for the works to pay themselves off (they're not top tier works, popularity-wise) but it's worth it to have them done and to expand the herbal category.

Which brings me to the goal of creating a new category sometime this summer for a new style of work which doesn't currently fit in any other category; folklore and cryptozoology. This will likely be the last category created for this year, although I could plow away at some works on ghosts and psychic lore and craft that one as well. I haven't decided yet!

General Update Time!

Tomorrow I anticipate finishing a very good academic work entitled "The Magic of the Middle Ages"- it combines some cryptid lore with a short of short story involving an alchemist and mage and a group of Victorian men traveling back in time with black magic. Added to this is an extensive treatment of the burning times especially the cultural and religious effects of the Malleus Maleficarum (the 'witch hammer'.) With some of the largely useless notes removed and in its new format it runs about 110 pages altogether.

I am also editing a work on Telepathy, and with a few more works along those lines the final category will be created; one specifically for the psychic arts and related concepts.

While these two works are being finished off I have temporarily halted the two herbals I have sitting there in different levels of completion; as the weather grows warmer I predict that I will have more interest in plants and botanical medicine and their related sub-topics, as my spring fever erupts in full scale.

The first two chapters of a political manuscript I have been working on are also complete.

General Update Time!

Things are going along quite smoothly at present; due to the sudden coming of snow (far earlier than usual) I've gotten a little ADHD addled I suppose and I have three works not complete but all more than half complete; namely the (very good) South Sea Herbal, the Asuri Kalpa, and A work called "Everybody's Astrology." I figure at least one will be done before November ends, and the other two in the first week of December, with three more works to go before the big #100.

That completes the first stage of my work; but there is an enormous load ahead for 2017; namely at least one and probably two entire categories' worth of work ("medical" will combine herbals with homeopathy, and I envision a new category for works related to the psychic arts, mediumship, mesmerism, and similar topics), as well as a planned massive addition of new subjects to the occult playlist I have made.

This is in addition to two side projects; tomorrow I should receive the three booklets I grabbed off ebay, and with my patreon-based donations far higher now I have the cash necessary to seriously look at some of the better booklet lots on ebay over time and grab a few to roughly double the occult archive- this has been actively planned for some time but until now I had so much else to do that I didn't have the time; I want to field at least 200 free scans by the end of 2017 and another 100 on top of that by the middle of 2018.

The second side project is, of course, finalizing the kindle ebook releases and adding links to them to the categories on this blog; unfortunately at least four separate editions were messed up (I'm good at dealing with createspace' system for paperbacks, but I am not used to the kindle process) and I had to completely redo them. If you do find that any of my ebook releases are not properly formatted, please do not hesitate to tell me here in a comment or by message on my Youtube channel.

I am also happy to announce that more than 120 copies of Sickness in Hell have been sold since its release about five weeks ago- this doesn't sound like a lot until you realize that the genre is the literal fringe of the fringe being self released without commercial advertisement by a largely unknown author of fictional works.
